1. Donate your dollar

We only want $1.

Yep, you read that right. We only want you to donate $1. In fact, we won't even let you donate more!

Why? Well, unlike other charities, we won't just rely on the same small group of people in society that are always reaching into their pockets to donate to causes.

Instead, we want every citizen of planet earth who can afford to buy a can of Coke, to donate. Which is why we've set our price at a level everyone can afford: $1.

Let me guess, you really mean $1 per day, right?

We want everybody on the planet who can afford to buy a can of Coke to donate $1 each year. That's our goal. But we're not going to use any tricks to get it. You won't see any recurring direct debit plans or credit card subscriptions (we don't even know your credit card details!) here. We want to earn your dollar every single year. The only way we can do this is by being completely open and transparent about everything we do and earn your trust.

OK, I'm convinced - can I give more?

You can't. Simple as that. We want every single donor to have an equal share in the outcome. Whether you ride a bike or drive a Roles-Royce, you are just as responsible for our achievements as the next person. This is not just a global obligation, but also a global solution. We need to unite as one to solve this problem.

That said, there is one other thing you can do to help us, and it won't cost you a cent! It's to help us spread the word. Further down this page you can download some cool badges you can put on your MySpace page. Join our Facebook group. Digg us! Put us in your email signature, or on your blogroll. While we won't take more than $1 from you, we'd love to get $1 from all your friends!

There is a revolution going on in the world of the Internet. Sites like MySpace and Facebook, and the blogging community are frequently described as 'social networks'.

Our aim here at A Global Obligation is to take the concept of a 'social network', and apply it to the donations model. Below are the ways you can easily spread the word on the social networking site of your choice.

3. Volunteer

We welcome volunteers. The community is full of smart people with great ideas and plenty of zeal. And we want you on board. But you won't be shaking cans or stuffing envelopes. This is business in the 21st Century. If you've got expertise in law, accounting, HR, IT, journalism, education or teaching, then please let us know! We'll announce the need for specific vacancies on our blog, so make sure you subscribe!

4. Contribute to openEducation

openEducation is our open source arm. We need educators, subject matter experts, local country experts, project managers and IT people. If this sounds like you, then please let us know! You'll be hearing more about openEducation on our blog, so make sure you subscribe.
