Millennium Development Goal 2: Consider it Ours
Our goal is to ensure that every child in the world has the opportunity to receive primary education, at no cost by 2015. The world has been changed many times before: the eradication of slavery; the vote for women; the ending of apartheid. Change is possible, even when the task at hand seems to be beyond our control. It's time for another such change. It's time we as human beings lived up to that promise of 52 years ago, even if our governments can't.
Our Plan
A Global Obligation has two core projects, which go hand in hand. The first is openEducation. The second is building schools. Both go hand in hand. The knowledge we gain from building and improving one will help us improve the other. The common management and oversight will ensure both projects are purely focused on our goal of achieving universal primary education by 2015. Read more about both projects below.
In 2007, we will raise the funds needed to achieve our goals. We will launch openEducation, an online platform for the collaborative development of curricula and a complete school management plan.
A School System, not just a School
We will build schools, train teachers, compile curricula and develop operational plans for the administration of our schools. These are things any organisation building schools would have to do. The difference is, our system is open and replicable over and over again. Our entire system is open source. It's called openEducation.
openEducation is about collaboration. It's about flexible delivery in a culturally sensitive way. It's about combining global resources and sharing the world's knowledge. It's an open-source "school in a box". We encourage you to check it out!
Building Schools
In early 2008, we will build our first school. This won't just be any school - it will be a model school for the future. The plans will be available for all to use. The operating procedures will be standardised and replicable around the world. The curriculum will be developed online by educational and subject matter experts, tailored to the local environment and printed on demand for each child.
Throughout 2008, we will use our funds to build more and more schools in areas of great need such as Malawi and Bangladesh. We will work with locals on the ground to provide us with local information and help tailor our curriculum.

In 2009, we will have proven our model and built at least 5 schools. openEducation will be fully developed. From here, we will encourage other charities to unite behind this common effort and build their own schools in their own countries of interest. We will continue to refine our model and update our curriculum, as we work towards our aim of solving the primary education needs of the planet by 2015.
How you can help?
First and foremost, we want your $1 donation!. Then we want you to tell all your friends. If you want to help further, we would encourage you to contribute to openEducation or volunteer for one of our many projects. The more help we get, the less we will need to spend on administration. But no matter what, we will never spend more than 10% - that's our guarantee!
